AGENDA: DISCUSSING THE CROSS BORDER IMPLICATION OF THE ETHIOPIA - TIGARAY CONFLICT
The Security Council, the United Nations’ principal crisis-management body, is empowered to impose binding obligations on the 193 UN member states to maintain peace. The Security Council’s five permanent and ten elected members meet regularly to assess threats to international security, including civil wars, natural disasters, arms proliferation, and terrorism. As we convene in this respected gathering, we must address the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression and promote and protect human rights in discharging its responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.
In this session, our focus is on “Discussing the cross border implication of The Ethiopia - Tigaray conflict”. The members of the Security Council strongly urged for cooperation with and support to the African Union High Representative. The members of the Security Council reaffirmed their strong commitment to the sovereignty, political independence, territorial integrity and unity of Ethiopia.
